“Deporting all the immigrants and banning Muslims” (Leviticus 19:33-34) OR Why We're Done with Fake News Christians
This will be brief.
Back in 2013, when we first made this game, politics was not on our minds.
In 2015, when it became clear that many people who call themselves “Christians” had lost their God-has-not-yet-damned minds, we joined our voices with the other clergy, lay leaders, and right-thinking human beings who were denouncing the advent and onslaught of utter bullshit. And we did so loudly, and consistently.
In 2017, when we created The Trump Cards: Fake News from the Bible limited edition expansion deck [sold out], we attempted to show how direct quotes and actions of the orange-dumpster-fire in-chief were in direct contradiction with Biblical principles. We also, to put money where our words are, donated a quarter of all sales to charities/organizations impacted by his policies. This offended some people, and we responded in kind. This card and Card Talk comes from that expansion deck.
But here we are in 2019.
The “Muslim ban” some people said would never happen, is in effect.
Right now there are men, women, and children, human beings, being held cages.
The bodies of babies as washing up on shore.
Every week there are new reports of children being denied the basic level of care vouchsafed in Federal law.
Children being mistreated
Children being sexually assaulted
Children being raped
Children being allowed to die.
People are arguing that this “concentration camp” is better than other “concentration camps.”
And some people look at all this and apparently forget that they “claim the name of Jesus,” and are “washed in the blood of the Lamb.” They suddenly become political and the Bible goes out the window.
We’ve covered this verse before, at length, but it apparently bears repeating:
When a stranger (גָּר ger – foreign born human being. Not an Israelite) sojourns (גּוּר guwr – lives/travels for a time) with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger (גָּר ger) who sojourns (גּוּר guwr) with you as the native among you, and you shall love (אָהַב ’ahab) him as yourself, for you were strangers (גָּר ger) in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
~ Leviticus 19:33-34
The Bible is VERY clear. This isn’t hard.
There are no loopholes: only Assholes.
All your talk about “legal immigration” does not change anything about this verse. Especially when you’re the first to issue diatribes about taking the Bible literally, at its word, in the original meaning, not adding or taking away from one jot or tittle from the text, until it suits your racist, xenophobic, nationalistic, empire-based faith.
We call bullshit. And are using the Bible to do it. Why?
Because It IS a Bible issue.
And your words to the contrary are far more offensive than any time one of our cards or posts has employed the word “fuck” or “shit.”
To be clear: you are the absolute worst, and there will be a reckoning, before God, one day. Hope you’re wearing clean underwear.
But what do we know: we made this game and you probably think we’re going to Hell.
